Also referred to as Emmer grain, Farro in Italian. This ancient grain is dated back 20,000 years. Popular in Europe, this grain is gaining popularity in the states as a healthy whole grain side or main vegetarian course. Though similar in texture, farro is more nutritious than rice and provides fiber, antioxidants, minerals and a rich, nutty flavor. Great as a risotto, in soups or a cold salad with asparagus and feta.

Storage & Cooking Instructions

Store in an airtight container in the pantry for 3 months, in the fridge for 6 months and the freezer for up to 1 year

Cooking instructions: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of rinsed farro and aromatics such as bay or rosemary. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender, draining any excess water.
