The popular South and Central American bean ubiquitous in Cuban cooking. Also called “turtle beans” this firm and meaty variety lends itself nicely to salads, veggie burgers or over a bowl of steaming hot white rice for a low-cost, filling meal.

Cooking Instructions & Storage

Store in cool, dry place in airtight container. Good for 2-3 years

For easier digestion and quicker cooking, soak overnight. Then cover with fresh water and aromatics such as onion, garlic and bay leaves, bring to a boil and simmer for 1-2 hours until tender. Drain and serve.

Freezes well for up to 6 months

*note – our black beans appear very purple, it’s normal!
